## What this product is

OrgTree.app is a free web-based org chart maker. You type, or paste from Excel or Google Sheets, your people into a people sheet, one person per row. The maker turns the sheet into an org tree in real time, with automatic layout and reporting-line routing. The columns drive the chart:

- **Name** — the person. Names must be unique, because Reports To matches managers by name.
- **Department** — colours the person's card and groups them; their reports inherit it unless they set their own.
- **Role** — the job title shown under the name.
- **Reports To** — the manager's name; blank for the person at the top.
- **Seat** — "Open role" draws an empty, dashed seat for a planned hire.
- **Reporting line** — "Dotted" draws a dotted-line (secondary or interim) report.

Pasted columns land in the order Name, Department, Role, Reports To. A manager may appear on a later row than their reports. No drawing, no canvas, no boxes to drag: moving someone to a new manager is one cell, and their whole branch moves with them. Works in any modern browser on Mac, Windows, Linux, or Chromebook. No install. No account required. Work is saved in the browser; downloading (PNG) and sharing come with a free QueryChart account.
