Free org chart templates

Six starting points for the most common org chart shapes. Each one opens in the OrgTree.app editor as a people sheet you can edit: change a name, a title, or who someone reports to, and the chart redraws itself. No signup, no drawing.

Prefer to start from scratch?

Open the editor with a small starter chart, or paste your own employee list from Excel. The org chart lays itself out as you type.

The templates

Pick the one closest to how your organization actually makes decisions, then adapt it. Every template is free and opens in your browser.

Org charts of well-known companies

Want to see how a large company is structured, or borrow its shape? Eleven company org charts, from Google and Apple to Tesla and IKEA, open in the same editor.

How the templates work

A template here is not a picture. It is a list of people with four columns: Name, Department, Role, and Reports To. The chart is drawn from that list, so editing the template is typing, not dragging boxes around.

To move someone to a new manager, change their Reports To cell and their whole branch moves with them. To add a planned hire, add a row and mark the seat as an open role. To recolour a whole branch, change the department on its head; reports inherit it.

Using your own data instead

If you already have an employee list in Excel or Google Sheets, you may not need a template at all. Copy the name, department, title, and manager columns and paste them into the editor's people sheet; the org chart assembles itself from the rows.

Frequently asked questions

Are these org chart templates free?

Yes. Every template opens in the free OrgTree.app editor with no signup, and your chart is saved in your browser as you edit.

Can I download a template?

You edit templates online. Downloading your finished chart as an image, sharing it, and team editing come with a free QueryChart account.

Which template should I choose?

Choose by how decisions are made rather than by headcount. A 60-person company run by one founder with a flat team is closer to the startup template than to the corporate one. The org chart templates guide explains the differences.
